Description
The City of Wilmington is seeking a single‑prime contractor to execute a comprehensive streetscape renovation along Dawson and Wooster Streets (US 17/74/76) from 3rd St. to 17th St. The work includes full pavement milling and resurfacing, concrete curb and gutter replacement, ADA‑compliant sidewalk and curb‑ramp installation, drainage upgrades, traffic‑signal upgrades, utility coordination, erosion‑control measures, and landscaping. Bidders must provide a 5 % bid bond, maintain required insurance, and meet a 14 % MBE/WBE subcontracting goal. The contract is a lump‑sum with unit‑price items, a 365‑day performance period, and liquidated damages of $530 per day for late completion.
• Pavement work: milling, base and surface asphalt courses, binder, and surface‑course installation.
• Concrete work: new curbs, gutters, curb ramps, sidewalks, and related drainage structures.
• Traffic‑control & signals: upgrade of vehicle and pedestrian signals, lane‑closure planning, and paint removal (included in lump‑sum traffic‑control line item).
• Utility & drainage coordination: trenching, conduit, catch‑basin modifications, and coordination with local utilities (Cape Fear Public Utility Authority, Duke Energy, etc.).
• Landscaping & erosion control: tree planting, seeding, mulching, temporary silt fences, and an optional Alternate A for expanded landscaping.
