The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is seeking veterinary services to perform surgeries on diving ducks to implant transmitters and provide postoperative care. The contractor will be required to surgically implant up to 100 radio transmitters in diving ducks and provide for postoperative care as needed. The contractor must have specific experience implanting transmitters into diving duck and/or Aechmorphorus grebe species. The work will be performed predominantly at the USGS Offices on Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge, but also at the USGS Moffett campus.
Some key points to consider:
• The contractor must have experience with implanting transmitters into diving ducks and/or Aechmorphorus grebe species.
• The contractor will be required to provide veterinary services, including surgeries and postoperative care.
• The contractor will be required to work on specific days and be available for surgeries if birds are captured on those dates.
• The USGS will provide radio transmitters and surgical equipment for use by the vendor.
• The contractor will be responsible for providing their own food during on-call hours.
