Description

The City of Dubuque is seeking bids for the removal, hauling, transportation, storage, and disposal of lime residuals (lime sludge) generated by the municipal lime softening water treatment process. The estimated annual production quantity is 18,000 wet tons of solids. The contractor will be responsible for removing the lime sludge from the Water Treatment Plant and transporting it to a disposal site. The City reserves the right to modify schedules, extend hauling hours, require weekend operations, or temporarily suspend hauling operations as necessary. • The lime sludge is generated as a by-product of the municipal lime softening water treatment process. • The residuals are mechanically dewatered using vacuum filtration dewatering technology. • The solids concentration of the lime sludge is approximately 42% - 45% solids by dry weight. • The contractor will be responsible for loading the lime sludge onto a truck for removal. • The City reserves the right to modify schedules, extend hauling hours, require weekend operations, or temporarily suspend hauling operations as necessary.
