Secondary Education Grant

The Maryland Department of Health, Developmental Disabilities Administration, is issuing this Request for Applications (RFA) to provide post-secondary education training in an institution of higher learning, focused on integrated employment skills and independent living skills for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The program aims to bridge the gap between secondary education and meaningful employment by offering a structured, inclusive learning environment. Key components of the program include inclusive training and experience, employment skills development, and social and independent living skills. The Applicant must be an accredited institution of higher learning and provide a comprehensive and inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. • The program should ensure students have access to the same educational and extracurricular opportunities as their peers. • The program should provide training and education on how to utilize and access their community through technology. • The program should promote active participation in campus life to foster social integration and personal growth. • The program should offer specialized training tailored to develop competitive employment skills. • The program should provide hands-on experience and practical learning opportunities to prepare students for employment and the workforce. • The program should equip students with social skills to enhance their ability to interact with others. • The program should teach independent living skills, including the use of technology, to support students in achieving autonomy and independence.
