NATO Request for Information: Provision of Wi-Fi Internet Connectivity via 5G Backhaul for SHAPE Buildings

The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) is seeking information from industry partners to support the provision of Wi-Fi Internet Connectivity via 5G Backhaul for SHAPE Buildings. The agency is looking for a managed Wi-Fi internet access solution that can provide secure Internet connectivity to authorized SHAPE users and enterprise-managed devices. The solution should be capable of supporting multiple logically separated Wi-Fi networks within the same physical infrastructure, each with distinct authentication and authorization mechanisms. The agency is considering two service ownership/operation models: NATO Owned/Contractor Operated and Contractor Owned/Contractor Operated. Key aspects of the project include: • Provision of managed Wi-Fi connectivity in SHAPE buildings • Use of 5G connectivity as the primary backhaul • Secure Wi-Fi access restricted to authorized SHAPE users and devices • Centralized monitoring, operations, and maintenance • Optional deployment of a private 5G network covering part or all of the SHAPE compound The agency is seeking input from industry partners on the suitability of the current public 5G network, the potential need for network reinforcement or optimization, and the advantages of private 5G network models. Respondents are encouraged to provide information on their company's technical capabilities, past performance, and feedback on the draft requirements.
