The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to the National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE) for the NCPE interns at North Cascades National Park Service Complex project. The project aims to create short-term training opportunities for qualified students focusing on cultural resource management. Interns will work alongside NPS staff in the cultural resources and interpretation fields, and will be assigned sites according to their areas of expertise and the requirements of the site. The interns will be compensated with a stipend.
• The project will support the development of responsible citizenship, productive community involvement, and furthering the understanding, appreciation, and conservation of natural and cultural resources.
• The interns will assist the park in compiling a database of nonextant structures in the Stephen Mather Wilderness of NOCA from historical documents, maps, oral histories, and other relevant sources for future planning projects.
• The recipient will select and oversee qualified and motivated undergraduate and graduate students to work alongside NPS staff.
• The NPS will provide general orientation to the NPS, park/site operations, and its mission to participants, and will work with the recipient to develop viable and relevant employment and learning opportunities at NPS sites.
