Description

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is seeking grant applications for the FY 2026 STOP School Violence Program. The program funds activities that improve school safety through training, technology, and threat‑assessment initiatives. Eligible applicants include state, local, tribal, and nonprofit entities such as school districts, charter schools, and other local government units. Funding may be used for: • Training for students, teachers, and law‑enforcement officers on violence prevention and mental‑health crisis response. • Development and deployment of anonymous reporting tools (apps, hotlines, websites). • Creation and operation of school threat‑assessment and intervention teams that coordinate with law‑enforcement. • Specialized training for school officials on mental‑health crisis response. The award ceiling is $2,000,000, with no minimum. Applications are accepted electronically from Sep 21 2026 through Oct 30 2026.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $2,000,000

The NOFO lists an award ceiling of $2,000,000 and no floor, indicating that individual grants could range from modest pilot projects to large, multi‑year implementations. Based on typical BJA STOP grants, smaller school districts often receive $100‑$300 K, while state‑wide or multi‑district initiatives can approach the $2 M ceiling. Therefore, a reasonable estimate for a single award is $100,000 to $2,000,000, depending on scope, applicant size, and proposed activities.
