The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to the Ventana Wildlife Society for the project "Recover Condors by Sharing GPS Data at Pinnacles National Park". The project aims to ensure the swift access to GPS data from Pinnacles National Park-managed condors and increase monitoring efficiency across central California by improving access to GPS condor data. The project will also collaborate on data-driven mapping projects to share information about condor range to the public. The key responsibilities of the parties include providing coordination, technical assistance, guidance, and monitoring as related to condor operations and central California condor range, capturing and placing wing tags on condors, and sharing research and monitoring results.
• The project will directly inform and positively impact recovery efforts currently conducted by Pinnacles National Park, USFWS Condor Recovery Program, Ventana Wildlife Society, and other organizations.
• The project will enhance an existing collaboration and increase overall condor monitoring efficiency.
• The project will disseminate results to park visitors and the public, and partners involved in current condor recovery decision-making.
• The project will conduct public outreach and education about condors through presentations and websites.
• The project will recruit, train, and mentor volunteers to assist in condor monitoring and tracking.
