Request for Information (RFI) for Modification of Dunnage Bar – Length Reduction

The U.S. Government is seeking information from qualified vendors regarding the feasibility, recommended approach, rough order magnitude, lead time, and any risks associated with modifying 1,176 existing dunnage bars by reducing their overall length. The modification involves either retaining and reusing the existing wood components or removing the existing wood and installing new wood components. Vendors are requested to provide separate information and feasibility assessments for both scenarios. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information for planning purposes to inform a possible future procurement or contract. • The modification involves reducing the overall length of the dunnage bars from approximately 109” – 112” to 107” center-hole to center-hole. • Vendors are requested to provide information on the feasibility of cutting/shortening the bar and the current wood pieces without compromising strength or fit. • Vendors are also requested to provide information on the required wood treatment or repair for reinstallation and the risks related to wood integrity during/after modification. • The U.S. Government is seeking information on the technical requirements, manufacturing capacity, lead time, and rough order magnitude for both scenarios.
