The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is soliciting proposals for the FY19 Brownfields Cleanup Grants. The purpose of these grants is to provide funding to empower states, communities, tribes, and nonprofit organizations to prevent, inventory, assess, clean up, and reuse brownfield sites. The grants will support EPA's FY 2018-2022 Strategic Plan, specifically Goal 1 - Core Mission, Objective 3 - Revitalize Land and Prevent Contamination.
• The maximum amount of EPA funds that will be awarded under a Cleanup Grant is $500,000.
• Applicants must be the sole owner of the site(s) that is the subject of its Cleanup Grant proposal.
• CERCLA requires applicants to provide a 20% cost share for Cleanup Grants.
• Grant funds may be used for direct costs associated with the cleanup of a brownfield site, programmatic management of the grant, and other eligible activities.
• Grant funds cannot be used for certain activities, such as direct costs for proposal preparation, penalties or fines, and administrative costs.
