Conflict Public Defender

This one‑year professional‑services agreement provides the Township of Barnegat with conflict public defender representation, covering all legal matters where the township’s regular counsel presents a conflict of interest. Gregory J. Hock, Esq. will deliver services on a per‑session and hourly basis, with mandatory compliance with New Jersey public‑contract regulations and affirmative‑action requirements. • Scope of Work: General conflict public defender services, bail‑hearing representation, and pre‑trial jail visits, plus any extraordinary legal tasks authorized by the Township Committee. • Compensation: $525 per session (annual rate) and $225 per hour for bail hearings and jail visits; reimbursable expenses billed at actual cost. • Term & Renewal: Effective 1 Jan 2025 through 31 Dec 2025; no renewal clause is included. • Regulatory Compliance: Must adhere to NJ P.L. 1975, c. 127 sections 3.4(a), 3.4(d), 3.6(a), 5.3 and Exhibit A affirmative‑action provisions. • Procurement Method: Direct sole‑source professional‑services contract without competitive bidding.
