Conflict Public Defender Services

The County of Calaveras is seeking proposals from solo practitioners, law firms, or groups of attorneys to provide conflict public defender services. The successful proposer will be expected to assume a contract similar in scope to the current public defender contracts, including representation of individuals in criminal, conservatorship, and juvenile dependency and delinquency cases. The contract term will be from March/April 2024 to June 2027, and the County will pay a fixed monthly rate for all services. Key aspects of the contract include: • Representation of individuals in criminal cases, including misdemeanors and felonies • Representation of individuals in conservatorship and juvenile dependency and delinquency cases • Provision of services to individuals determined by the court to be entitled to a court-appointed attorney • Payment of a fixed monthly rate for all services, with exceptions for certain litigation expenses • Term of the contract from March/April 2024 to June 2027
