The City of Chico is seeking a consultant to develop a long-term citywide Urban Forest Master Plan and perform a Canopy Coverage Analysis. The plan will serve as a roadmap for elected officials, staff, residents, and other stakeholders, and will establish the value of the City's urban forest. The successful consultant will have expertise in developing Urban Forest Master Plans and experience with state and federally funded projects. The project is funded by a grant from the California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection and the USDA Forest Service Urban & Community Forestry Program.
• The Urban Forest Master Plan will identify community concerns and opinions, outline key challenges and potential conflicts, and establish goals, policies, and programs to guide Public Works.
• The plan will provide a series of action points to maintain the health of the forest, increase canopy, ensure funding sources, promote best practices, minimize conflicts, and increase climate resiliency.
• The City is looking for innovative methods and approaches to develop the Urban Forest Master Plan and Canopy Coverage Analysis.
• The project is funded by a grant, and the City reserves the right to hold interviews to discuss the consultant's decisions regarding standards and their effect on pricing and outcomes.
