Description

The U.S. Army is seeking a contractor to provide specialized diagnostic services and parts procurement for the 4th Engineer Battalion's fleet of Caterpillar (CAT) heavy construction equipment. The contractor will be required to provide on-call diagnostics and parts procurement services, including supplying qualified technicians for on-call troubleshooting and sourcing and delivering necessary CAT parts that are unavailable through standard Army supply channels. The contract is expected to be awarded on a sole source basis, but the Army is seeking vendors that may be able to perform this requirement to support a competitive procurement. The period of performance is expected to be from 01 July 2026 to 30 June 2031. Some key points about this opportunity include: • The contractor will be required to provide on-call diagnostic and troubleshooting services for the 4EN BN CAT equipment fleet. • The contractor will be required to source and deliver proprietary CAT parts that are unavailable through standard Army supply channels. • The contractor will be required to provide a formal written diagnostic report and repair recommendation to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) within 24 hours of the initial on-site service call. • The contractor will be required to deliver parts designated as "Mission-Critical" by the COR within 48 hours of order approval. • The contractor will be required to provide all necessary vehicles, equipment, and supplies to perform the required services.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $5,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be in the range of $1 million to $5 million per year, based on the estimated workload data provided in the opportunity document. The contractor will be required to provide on-call diagnostic and troubleshooting services, as well as source and deliver proprietary CAT parts, which will likely require a significant investment in personnel, equipment, and supplies. However, the exact budget will depend on the specific requirements of the contract and the contractor's ability to negotiate a favorable price. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the cost of labor, equipment, and supplies, as well as the contractor's overhead and profit margins. Additionally, the budget may be affected by the contract's period of performance, which is expected to be 5 years.
