Description

The United States Air Force is seeking a contractor to replace a high‑pressure (5,000 psi) nitrogen gas piping system for a plasma spray booth located in Building 3001 at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. The contractor must provide all labor, tools, materials, equipment, transportation, quality control, and documentation to fully demolish the existing system and install a new 316 stainless‑steel piping network, including welds, supports, and comprehensive testing. The work must comply with ASME B31.3, OSHA, and Air Force safety regulations, and include extensive documentation, safety plans, and post‑installation reporting. • Demolition and safe removal of existing nitrogen piping. • Installation of new 5,000 psi rated 316 SS pipe, regulators, storage cylinders, and connections to the plasma spray booth. • TIG welding of pipe joints (6G certified welder required). • Replacement of pipe supports and anchoring. • Hydrostatic test to 7,500 psi for 1 hour and pneumatic leak test at 5,500 psi for 2 hours. • Full safety compliance (hot‑work permits, fall protection, HAZMAT, environmental). • Submission of all required documentation (drawings, test results, safety plans, certifications). • Work to be performed Mon‑Fri, 0700‑1900, with government oversight and on‑site inspections.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

Based on the scope—complete demolition, supply of high‑pressure 316 SS pipe, specialized 6G welding, hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, safety documentation, and compliance with Air Force regulations—the contract is likely to fall in the mid‑six‑figure range. Material costs for 5,000 psi stainless‑steel pipe and fittings, plus labor for certified welders and safety‑qualified technicians, typically run $150‑$300 k, while testing, travel, and overhead can add another $50‑$200 k. Therefore, an estimated contract value is roughly $200,000 to $500,000.
