Professional Services, Annual Bridge, Pier and Culvert Inspections

The City of Newport News is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide professional services for annual bridge, pier, and culvert inspections. The selected firm will be responsible for performing visual structural inspections, submitting inspection reports, and conducting monthly meetings with the City's Departments of Engineering and Public Works. The inspections and reporting shall be in accordance with current regulations and requirements of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS). The City has a total of 33 bridges, 7 pedestrian bridges, 1 pier, and 18 culverts that require inspection. The contract period will be for one year from the date of award with the option to renew for three additional one-year periods. • The City is seeking a firm with experience in providing comparable services. • The firm should have the capability to deploy key project personnel to visit project sites promptly. • The firm should have a good understanding of the required work and approach to provide the services. • The firm should have qualified key personnel with experience in bridge, pier, and culvert inspections. • The firm should be able to provide innovative alternatives and creative approaches to the project. • The firm should be able to meet the City's insurance requirements. • The firm should be able to provide a detailed technical proposal, including an executive summary, company profile, description of the approach, and key personnel.
