Description
This competitive sealed‑bid (CSB) opportunity calls for a contractor to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and services needed to stabilize and fully restore the historic Lightship Ambrose (1907) so it can serve as an educational platform for the South Street Seaport Museum. The work includes transporting the vessel to a qualified shipyard, hull stabilization, waterproofing, structural repairs, deck replacement with composite wood, restoration of deck houses, masts, rigging, interior spaces, installation of modern climate‑control, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems, and finally towing the vessel back to its pier. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder and will be administered by the New York City Department of Design and Construction.
• Scope covers full vessel‑repair (structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, historic preservation) performed primarily at an off‑site shipyard with a required 5‑ton crane and climate‑controlled storage.
• Bid window: 11:30 am – 2:00 pm on June 25 2026 (post‑postponement); bid opening at 2:30 pm the same day.
• Mandatory pre‑bid site visit on April 1 2026 (optional attendance).
