Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting market research to identify potential sources of commercial products/services that satisfy the Government’s anticipated needs for a Closed Loop Optical Cryostat. The cryostat will be used for detecting nanoparticles down to a few nanometers in size and will be used along with a Super High Resolution Darkfield Scattering-Confocal Raman Microscope. The cryostat must have specific features such as cryostat control software, cold stage base temperature, temperature stability, sample chamber platform vibration stability, and multiple optical access ports. The system must allow continuous operation without the use of extra-instrument liquid cryogens and must have a fully integrated 3-axis closed cryogenic nanopositioner. • The cryostat must have a cold stage base temperature of 3.2 K. • The temperature stability must be less than 0.010 K peak to peak fluctuations with damped sample mount. • The sample chamber platform vibration stability must be less than 5 nm peak to peak in XY& Z axis. • The system must have an independent sample temperature stage, capable of adjusting the sample temperature with a heating/cooling rate of 300 K / 5 mins. • The system must have a fully automated pump, cooldown, temperature stabilization, and warmup. • The system must have multiple optical access ports, with two windows (one cold and one warm) on each port.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the notice does not provide a specific budget or funding amount. However, based on the complexity and specificity of the requirements for the Closed Loop Optical Cryostat, it is likely that the budget will be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the cryostat is a highly specialized and customized piece of equipment, and that the vendor will need to provide installation, training, and maintenance services in addition to the equipment itself. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the level of customization required, the complexity of the installation and training process, and the level of competition among vendors.
