NRCS - Southern California National Resources Inventory (NRI) Data Collection Services

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking a contractor to provide National Resources Inventory (NRI) data collection services in Southern California. The contractor will be responsible for furnishing the necessary personnel, supplies, materials, and incidentals to provide services as described in the work statement. The services include collecting data on one or two data collection points situated within selected sample segments located in Southern California. The data will be collected in accordance with the standards outlined in the National Resources Inventory Grazing Land On-Site Data Collection, Handbook of Instructions. Some of the key responsibilities of the contractor include: • Collecting landscape information • Conducting soil determinations • Determining ecological site • Assessing rangeland health • Identifying plant species and conducting a census • Identifying disturbance indicators • Identifying sagebrush shape and species • Identifying resource concerns • Identifying conservation practices and needs • Determining plant species composition and production The contractor will be required to enter the collected data into hand-held computers using NRCS-approved software and submit it to the server at Iowa State University Center for Survey Statistics and Methodology.
