City Prosecutor

The City of Wheat Ridge is seeking a part-time, contracted person or firm to perform City Prosecution Services. The City Prosecutor provides professional legal services on behalf of the City, focusing primarily on municipal court prosecution, code enforcement, nuisance and code abatement, and certain administrative hearings. Key responsibilities include: • Prosecuting all alleged violations of the City Code in Municipal Court • Managing abatement cases, including nuisance and property maintenance enforcement • Representing the City in administrative hearing officer cases involving code violations • Conducting legal research and preparing legal memoranda, pleadings, and related documents • Advising City departments, Police, and Code Enforcement staff on enforcement procedures and legal requirements The ideal candidate will have a strong background in municipal prosecution, criminal law, or code enforcement, and excellent courtroom advocacy, legal writing, and research skills.
