The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is seeking information from potential sources for the Space Power and Reactor Capabilities (SPARC) contract. The contract aims to develop nuclear systems for use in space and on the lunar surface. Interested parties are requested to provide capability statements, which should include information about their company's experience, capabilities, and approach to managing large-scale, complex research and development contracts. The statements should also address potential barriers to small business participation and strategies for increasing such participation.
• The contract will be a Multiple Award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (MAIDIQ) contract, with a primary focus on the development of the Lunar Reactor-1 (LR-1) Program.
• The LR-1 Program aims to build the first operational fission reactor for the lunar surface and advance U.S. fission power technologies.
• The contract will include the design, development, analysis, fabrication, assembly, verification, validation, test, evaluation, certification, delivery, and sustaining maintenance and operations of space nuclear systems, subsystems, hardware, materials, and software.
• The contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary resources to complete the scope of work, including personnel, facilities, materials, services, and other items and functions.
