BANKRUPTCY ATTORNEY

The City of East Orange is seeking a bankruptcy attorney to provide legal services on an as-needed basis. The selected attorney will provide advisory services, representation in proceedings, collections and enforcement, and reporting and communication. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in handling bankruptcy matters and be licensed to practice law in New Jersey. • The attorney will provide legal guidance to the City regarding potential bankruptcy filings by individuals or entities with obligations to the City. • The attorney will advise on municipal exposure in bankruptcy matters, including the treatment of municipal liens, fines, and judgments. • The attorney will counsel on the City’s rights and remedies under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and related state law. • The attorney will represent the City in hearings, mediations, or settlement conferences related to bankruptcy proceedings.
