FBI INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE TO THERMO FISHER SCIENTIFIC

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intends to award a sole source contract to Thermo Fisher Scientific for the procurement of proprietary reagents and consumables in support of the FBI Laboratory Division. This requirement is necessary to support ongoing laboratory operations, forensic analysis, and mission-critical scientific functions. Thermo Fisher Scientific is the only known responsible source capable of providing the required proprietary reagents and consumables that are fully compatible with existing FBI laboratory instrumentation, validated testing methods, established workflows, and operational requirements. * The contract will consist of one base year and four one-year option periods, with a possible six-month extension. * The estimated total contract value is $200,000,000. * The contract is for the procurement of reagents and consumables for DNA analysis, including extraction, quantification, amplification, and detection. * The FBI has conducted market research and determined that Thermo Fisher Scientific is the only vendor that can meet the agency's minimum requirements without unacceptable operational disruption. * The contract is being awarded on a sole source basis due to the unique requirements of the FBI's laboratory operations and the need for compatibility with existing instrumentation and workflows.
