Description
The City of New York’s Department of Design and Construction is seeking a qualified contractor to execute a comprehensive HVAC upgrade for the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. The work includes demolition, renovation, and installation of new heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning systems, modification of an existing geothermal loop, refurbishment of a cooling tower, and related structural and architectural improvements. The contract is subject to the 2025‑2028 NYC Agency Citywide New Construction & Renovation Project Labor Agreement, community‑hiring goals, and mandatory MWBE participation requirements.
• Mechanical scope: install hybrid air‑source/geothermal heat‑pump plant, new air‑handling units, ductwork modifications, and cooling‑tower refurbishment.
• General construction: rooftop visual screen, relocated smoke vent, interior partitions, and ceiling work.
• Structural scope: new dunnage and support for rooftop equipment; compliance with seismic and wind design standards.
• Mandatory requirements: PLA adherence, 30 % community‑hire labor hours (with 30 % apprentices), strict certified‑pay rules, and full documentation of subcontractors in PASSPort.
