The University of South Carolina’s Carolina Institute for Battery Innovation is seeking pre‑qualified contractors to undertake the base‑building renovation of its 1220 Catawba Street facility in Columbia. The scope includes renovating approximately 18,500 GSF of an existing high‑bay industrial biomass building, adding two partial upper floors for office and conference space, and providing the necessary exhaust, power, and plumbing infrastructure to support a new dry‑lab that will be installed by a separate turnkey vendor. The contractor must coordinate closely with the owner’s schedule to have the laboratory operational by Q2 2027, aligning with a critical‑path child construction schedule.
