Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is conducting market research to identify commercially available Uncrewed Marine System (UMS) solutions capable of supporting Fisheries and Coastal Science missions. The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to obtain information from industry regarding existing, commercially available, or near-commercial uncrewed marine surface vessel solutions capable of performing all or part of the requirements outlined. The UMS platform(s) should demonstrate capability to perform or support various tasks such as ocean and coastal biomass and bottom mapping, water column profiling, monitoring environmental parameters, and surface, midwater, and seafloor parameter sampling. Some key features and capabilities of the UMS platform(s) include: • Operating for up to 21 continuous days • Being fully mission capable through Sea State 4 • Having a transit speed of at least 10 knots • Having a range of 5,500 nautical miles • Being able to provide emergency response capabilities to natural and man-made disasters • Having acoustic systems capable of acquiring high-resolution bathymetry and collecting acoustic backscatter • Having secure communications capability • Being able to accommodate future technology insertion NOAA is seeking information on various aspects of the UMS platform(s), including company name, description of existing commercial UMS platform(s), system maturity level, technical specifications, payload capacity, and performance data.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $10,000,000

It's difficult to estimate the budget for this opportunity as it's a Request for Information (RFI) and not a formal solicitation. However, considering the complexity and scope of the project, the budget could be substantial. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the cost of developing and deploying the uncrewed marine systems, the cost of maintaining and operating the systems, and the cost of providing emergency response capabilities. A rough estimate could be in the range of $1 million to $10 million, depending on the scope and complexity of the project.
