The USDA is seeking bids for pavement repair at the Memphis Cotton Classing Facility. The entire paved area is in a severe state of disrepair and must be replaced. The project involves pulverizing all asphalt, grading areas to positive drainage, raising a chain link gate, protecting a buried electric line, and compacting the base with a 10-ton roller. The project will be phased, and the government will move containers. The contractor will be required to install 2 inches of state-approved base mix and 2 inches of state-approved surface mix, and roll to 95% compaction.
• The project requires the contractor to verify 4 inches of compacted asphalt.
• The pavement thickness will be determined by core samples taken in accordance with standard ASTM/DOT testing procedures.
• Price adjustments for deficient thickness will be applied to the full lot or section represented by the failing core.
• The contractor will be required to remove any failed subgrade and replace it with new rock and/or pulverized material.
