Description

The City of Pasadena, through its Department of Water and Power (PWP), is seeking proposals for one or more distributed generation renewable energy facilities. The proposed projects must be located within PWP's service territory and interconnect directly to PWP's electric distribution grid. PWP is seeking distributed resources larger than 200kW, with commercial operation or delivery start dates on or before December 31, 2028, and a minimum delivery term of 10 years. The City aims to source 100% of its electricity from carbon-free resources by 2030, and this RFP supports both Pasadena's 100% carbon-free goal and PWP's compliance with California's Renewables Portfolio Standard. Key aspects of the project include: • Distributed generation renewable energy facilities • Interconnection to PWP's electric distribution grid • Minimum capacity of 200kW • Commercial operation or delivery start dates on or before December 31, 2028 • Minimum delivery term of 10 years • Compliance with California's Renewables Portfolio Standard • Contribution to Pasadena's goal of 100% carbon-free electricity by 2030

Budget estimate

$10,000,000 – $50,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate without knowing the specifics of the proposed projects. However, considering the minimum capacity requirement of 200kW and the 10-year delivery term, the total budget could be substantial. Assuming an average annual production of 1,000 MWh per 200kW facility, and a price of $100 per MWh, the total budget over 10 years could be around $10 million per facility. Given that the City is seeking one or more facilities, the total budget could range from $10 million to $50 million or more, depending on the number and capacity of the selected facilities.
