Fundamentals of Composite Structure Design Course

The NASA/NSSC is seeking a vendor to provide a 2-day course on Fundamentals of Composite Structure Design. The course should include a combination of lectures, analytical reviews, and practical demonstrations to help participants understand the basics of composites and their application in real-world structural design. The vendor will be required to provide all course materials and instruction for up to 30 employees. The course is scheduled to be delivered onsite at NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center on June 23-24, 2026. • The course will cover the integration of theoretical foundation with practical demonstrations to understand composites. • The course will include lectures, analytical reviews of lamina- and laminate-level mechanics, and a concluding demonstration of special layups. • The course will develop participants' ability to evaluate structural behavior and understand how individual plies and stacking sequences influence stiffness, strength, and overall material performance. • The course will cultivate the core analytical concepts required for participants to transition from theoretical understanding to working confidently with composite materials in real-world structural design.
