Description

The National Institutes of Health intends to award a firm-fixed-price purchase order to Bruker Biospin Corp. to replace several components of the existing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) infrastructure. The purpose of this acquisition is to replace components that are reaching end-of-life status and cannot be repaired due to discontinued manufacturing of key components. The project supports mission-critical biomedical research, focusing on structural and dynamic characterization of proteins and nucleic acid, mechanisms of phosphorylation and regulation in intrinsically disordered proteins, and transient conformational states associated with ligand and substrate binding. • The research supports NIH’s mission to advance fundamental knowledge of biological systems and to improve understanding of disease mechanisms relevant to diabetes, metabolic disorders, and related conditions. • High-field 600-MHz NMR spectrometers equipped with cryogenic probe technology and Q-band pulsed EPR spectrometers capable of Double Electron-Electron Resonance (DEER) measurements are essential infrastructure for this research. • The notice is not a request for competitive quotes, but any available small businesses may submit a written capability statement that clearly supports and demonstrates their ability to perform the requirement.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget amount for this opportunity is not explicitly mentioned in the document. However, based on the scope of the project, which involves replacing several components of the existing NMR spectroscopy and EPR infrastructure, the estimated budget could be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the components to be replaced are high-end equipment, and the total cost may include the purchase price, installation, and maintenance. The actual budget amount may vary depending on the complexity of the project, the number of components to be replaced, and the vendor's pricing.
