Description

The Multi-Channel Atomic Magnetometer (MCAM) is a non-cryogenic, multi-channel optical quantum sensor that captures ultra-faint biomagnetic signals from the brain, heart, and other sources. The technology has a sensitivity approaching that of cryogenic SQUID-based systems and delivers performance at roughly one-tenth the per-channel cost without the need for liquid helium. The MCAM module operates on the spin-exchange relaxation-free (SERF) regime and uses a shared vapor cell, a single pump beam, a single probe beam, and a single detector array to generate multiple independent sensing channels. The technology has various market applications, including medical diagnostic imaging, pediatric and adaptive neuroimaging, micro-scale biomagnetic imaging, cancer diagnostics, magnetic resonance imaging, sensing, and instrumentation. • The MCAM module is engineered for arrays and can be tiled into a conformal helmet or surface array that adapts to head or torso shape. • The design is compatible with several alkali-metal and buffer-gas options and with per-module bias coils that allow each module to be tuned individually inside a larger array. • The technology has a development path toward micrometer-scale spatial resolution, which would extend the platform from whole-organ mapping into micro-scale magnetic imaging regimes. • The MCAM module is scalable into helmet-style arrays of hundreds of channels, including a size-adjustable pediatric configuration. • The technology has a shorter sensor-to-source stand-off via rear-mirror beam folding, sharpening spatial resolution of biomagnetic sources.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $1,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate because the document does not provide information on the licensing fees or royalties. However, considering the technology's potential applications in medical diagnostic imaging, pediatric and adaptive neuroimaging, micro-scale biomagnetic imaging, and cancer diagnostics, the budget could be substantial. The licensing fees or royalties may be influenced by factors such as the technology's market demand, the number of licenses granted, and the revenue generated by the licensees. A rough estimate could be in the range of $100,000 to $1,000,000, depending on the terms of the licensing agreement.
