Description

The City of Pasadena's Department of Water and Power is seeking proposals for carbon-free energy resources and/or energy storage. The goal is to source 100% of the city's electricity from carbon-free resources by 2030. Proposers must submit a technical proposal, price proposal, and statement of qualifications. The contract term will be 10 years or longer, and the proposal must align with California's Renewables Portfolio Standard Program. Key points to consider: • The city is committed to promoting economic health and well-being for its residents, with a focus on local businesses. • The proposal must include all costs associated with the technical proposal, such as designs, equipment, materials, labor, insurance, and bond premiums. • The proposer must submit a completed Form AA-1 and other required forms. • The city reserves the right to reject any or all bids or proposals and waive any non-conformity of proposals.

Budget estimate

$50,000,000 – $200,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be substantial, given the city's commitment to sourcing 100% of its electricity from carbon-free resources. The exact budget amount will depend on the proposer's pricing and the scope of work. However, based on industry benchmarks, a reasonable estimate for a 10-year contract could be in the range of $50 million to $200 million. This estimate takes into account the cost of generating and transmitting carbon-free energy, as well as the potential revenue from selling excess energy back to the grid.
