Request for Specialty Waterline Utility Locating Services

The City of Montrose is seeking consultants or vendors to perform specialized waterline utility locating services for approximately 3,000 LF of 16 inch asbestos cement waterline. The line was constructed in the mid 70's without any tracing wire or valves, and conventional locating methods have been unable to locate the line with certainty. The City is looking to determine if other specialty locating technologies would be viable in this application. • The waterline is estimated to be at 5 to 6 feet of bury under a soil profile of 10" asphalt, 2' road base, and moist/saturated adobe clay. • The City is open to evaluating options for locating, including acoustic technologies, line pulse creation, and specialized ground penetrating radar. • Interested parties may contact City Engineer Scott Murphy for more information.
