Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking a scientist with extensive expertise in innate immunology and hereditary autoinflammatory diseases to work on a project studying the relationship between atherosclerosis and obesity and other metabolic disorders. The scientist will be responsible for conducting research, developing new methods and technologies, and troubleshooting existing protocols. They will also be expected to write protocols and study reports, produce and maintain accurate records, and prepare manuscripts for journal publications. The ideal candidate will have a PhD with 15+ years of directly relevant experience in immunology or inflammation, and proficiency in techniques such as T cell culture, multicolor flow cytometry, and RNA-seq. • The project involves working with patient samples and developing in vitro bioassays to test immunological and metabolic mechanisms. • The scientist will be working in a fast-paced, result-oriented research environment and will be expected to contribute creatively and strategically to assay design and optimization. • The project requires expertise in data analysis software such as Excel and GraphPad Prism, and strong verbal and written communication skills. • The scientist will be working independently, with minimal direction, and will be expected to define and implement critical studies needed to support hypothesis-based research. • The project involves working with autoimmune and inflammatory disease mouse and rabbit models, and expertise in exosome purification and characterization is desired.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $200,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be in the range of $100,000 to $200,000 per year, based on the fact that the contractor will be working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, totaling 2080 hours per year, and the project involves specialized research and development services. The actual budget may vary depending on factors such as the contractor's qualifications, experience, and location. The budget may also be influenced by the fact that the project is a firm fixed price contract, which means that the contractor will be paid a fixed amount for their services, regardless of the actual costs incurred.
