Description

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive Diseases and Nutrition (NIDDK) is seeking to continue the NIDDK Inflammatory Bowel Disease Genetics Consortium (IBDGC) to advance its mission. The IBDGC has made significant progress in identifying genetic risk loci for IBD and characterizing the underlying biological mechanisms. Despite these advances, IBD remains a chronic and severe disease with no cure, requiring multiple interventions over the life course. The IBDGC aims to leverage patient cohorts, biospecimens, and advances in data science to develop new predictors of disease outcomes and improve medical management. The consortium may include up to 7 Genomic Research Centers with varying research emphases. • The IBDGC will focus on characterizing the interactions of genetic, clinical, and environmental factors in disease development and progression. • The consortium will develop new predictors of disease outcomes, including disease remission, recurrence, and response to specific therapies. • The IBDGC will aim to improve medical management and advance precision medicine for IBD patients. • The consortium may include up to 7 Genomic Research Centers with varying research emphases. • The project will involve participant enrollment, molecular analysis of biospecimens, and bioinformatics and computational analyses.
