Description

The NIH Common Fund seeks a Genomic Data Generation Center to produce high‑quality, multi‑omics data (whole‑genome, RNA‑seq, long‑read, methylation, ATAC‑seq) from thousands of pediatric specimens covering childhood cancers and congenital anomalies. Generated data will be harmonized and hosted by the Kids First Data Resource Center, providing a cloud‑based repository for the research community. The award is a U24 cooperative agreement (up to $3.5 M) with NIH staff providing substantial programmatic involvement, including liaison, cohort allocation, and technology guidance. Recipients retain primary rights to data and software but must ensure continuity and allow NIH to transfer resources if needed. Annual reporting and a robust data‑management plan are required.

Budget estimate

$2,000,000 – $3,500,000

The NOFO lists an award ceiling of $3,500,000 and an estimated total funding pool of $6,000,000–$6,600,000 for multiple centers. Assuming a single award, a realistic budget range is roughly $2 M (minimum viable center) to $3.5 M (maximum ceiling). Factors influencing the final amount include the number of specimens processed, scope of data types (e.g., inclusion of long‑read sequencing), and the level of ancillary services (training, outreach, software development).
