Description

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) will issue a single‑source U24 cooperative agreement to the University of California, Santa Cruz to renew the Data Resource and Administrative Coordination Center (DRACC) for the Scalable and Systematic Neurobiology of Psychiatric and Neurodevelopmental Disorder Risk Genes (SSPsyGene) Consortium. The DRACC will expand a sustainable, interoperable knowledge base, standardize terminology and data formats, and apply artificial‑intelligence methods to accelerate brain‑disorder research. Projects that enhance the DRACC’s data‑harmonization methods, improve submission pipelines to archives, or develop tools that leverage the resource are encouraged. • Eligibility – only UC Santa Cruz may apply (single‑source). • Funding – estimated $2.5 million (Cooperative Agreement, U24). • Timeline – posting 16 Sep 2026; application due 1 Jun 2027; award expected 1 Apr 2028; project start 1 Apr 2028. • Scope – build on DRACC’s existing infrastructure, create data standards, enable AI‑driven analyses, and disseminate resources to the broader biomedical community. • Deliverables – sustained data repository, standardized assay metadata, interoperable data models, and documentation for community use.

Budget estimate

$2,000,000 – $3,000,000

The forecast lists an estimated funding amount of $2,500,000 for the single‑source cooperative agreement. Given typical NIH U24 award structures, the actual award could vary around this figure depending on the scope of the proposed data‑resource enhancements and the level of effort required. A reasonable range is roughly $2 million at the low end (minimum viable implementation) up to $3 million at the high end (including extensive AI integration, expanded data standards, and broader dissemination activities).
