Description

The BRAIN Initiative seeks cutting‑edge U01‑type Specialized Projects that develop scalable technologies for generating comprehensive brain‑connectivity atlases across human, non‑human primate, mouse, and optionally other species. Applicants may target any step of the data pipeline—tissue processing, imaging, reconstruction, analysis, integration, or dissemination—to accelerate creation of whole‑brain wiring diagrams. Funded projects become part of the BRAIN CONNECTS Network, collaborating with existing awards to build a multi‑scale, multi‑species mapping capability. The program emphasizes innovation, cost‑effectiveness, and data‑sharing standards, with an estimated total award ceiling of $10 million and individual awards expected to run for up to five years.

Develop or refine scalable methods for tissue preparation, high‑throughput imaging, or computational reconstruction.
