Description

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is seeking to expand the NeuroNEXT network by adding new Clinical Research Sites. The award will be a U24 cooperative agreement (not a clinical trial award) that provides infrastructure, expertise, and collaborative opportunities to conduct high‑quality neuroscience clinical trials and biomarker studies in adult and pediatric populations. Although the solicitation is currently a forecast (applications not yet being accepted), potential applicants are encouraged to begin partnership discussions and prepare responsive proposals for the anticipated opening in late 2027. • Funding mechanism: Cooperative Agreement (U24) under CFDA 93.853. • Target applicants: Wide range of public, nonprofit, for‑profit, tribal, and educational entities (see eligibility list). • Expected award timeline: Synopsis posting ≈ Sept 2027, application response ≈ Nov 2027, award ≈ Jul 2028, project start ≈ Jul 2028. • Scope of work: Provide clinical trial infrastructure, patient recruitment, data management, and biomarker validation capabilities aligned with NeuroNEXT’s network goals. • No cost‑sharing required. • No pre‑bid meeting or site visit required. • Contact: NINDS via email ([email protected]).

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $5,000,000

The notice does not disclose a dollar ceiling. Typical NIH U24 awards for multi‑site clinical research infrastructure range from $1 million to $5 million per site over a 3‑5‑year period, depending on the scope of patient recruitment, data management, and staffing. Assuming a mid‑size academic or hospital site, an estimate of $1‑5 M is reasonable. Factors influencing the final amount include the institution’s capacity, the number of trials supported, and any supplemental resources required for pediatric or rare‑disease studies.
