Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) are seeking applications for high-priority research projects in tobacco regulatory science. The goal of this research is to provide additional scientific data to inform the regulation of tobacco products and protect public health. To be considered responsive, research must be within the regulatory authority of FDA CTP and address one or more of the following topics: addiction, behavior, communications, health effects, product composition and design, and/or toxicity. • The research must provide additional science for the FDA to consider as it implements the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (FSPTCA). • The NIH will administer the awards using funds made available through FDA CTP and the FSPTCA. • The estimated funding for this opportunity is $7,000,000, with an award ceiling of $500,000. • The estimated number of awards is 8. • The opportunity is open to a variety of applicant types, including public housing authorities, nonprofits, small businesses, and private institutions of higher education.
