Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking a contractor to replace an existing laboratory fume hood and associated rooftop exhaust system in Building 2, Room 1330 at the NIST Boulder Campus. The project includes demolition and replacement of the existing tabletop fume hood with a new walk-in fume hood and hazardous exhaust fan to support new research involving larger equipment and toxic gases. The contractor will be responsible for architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire alarm modifications. The contractor will also provide structural design and installation of exhaust stack supports and perform ASHRAE 110 performance testing of the hood and exhaust system. The project is expected to last approximately six months from the date of award. Some key features of the fume hood include: • Double wall construction with steel exterior panels and a high-density polyethylene interior liner • Bypass louvers located at the front upper section of the hood • A beveled sash opening to reduce dead air pockets and air turbulence • A fluorescent light fixture and two duplex 120 V/20A electrical outlets • Pre-wired electrical connections to a junction box located on top of the hood The contractor will be required to submit various documents, including shop drawings, product data, and operation and maintenance manuals. The contractor will also be responsible for coordinating construction activities with NIST personnel and ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with the contract documents and specifications.
