Description

The City of Toledo’s Division of Urban Beautification seeks a qualified, licensed and permitted scrap‑metal recycling facility to collect, store, and recycle scrap metal from the Clean Toledo Center. The contractor must provide all equipment and services required for collection, proper handling, and disposal, and will be paid on a per‑ton basis for metal recovered. Bids are submitted electronically via PlanetBids and must include a full set of required documents (project paperwork, signed contract, child‑support affidavit, insurance certificate, workers’ compensation certificate, and other mandatory forms). The contract is for a base term of one year with the option to renew up to three additional one‑year terms, and the vendor must maintain all licensing, bonding, and insurance requirements throughout the contract period. • Pay‑per‑ton pricing – the City pays the vendor $/ton of scrap metal collected. • Mandatory electronic submission on PlanetBids; required uploads include project paperwork, signed contract, child‑support affidavit, liability insurance, and workers‑comp. • Contractor must be a licensed, permitted scrap‑metal recycling facility and provide all collection equipment and storage. • Contract term: 1 year, with three optional one‑year renewals; performance bond not required but a bid guaranty is required per bid amount.

Budget estimate

$5,000 – $150,000

The solicitation does not state a total contract value; payment is per‑ton of metal recovered. Assuming a modest collection volume of 5‑30 tons per month (typical for a municipal facility) and an average city‑paid rate of $100‑$200 per ton, annual revenues could range from roughly $6,000 (5 tons × 12 months × $100) to $72,000 (30 tons × 12 months × $200). If the contractor secures higher tonnage or a higher per‑ton rate, revenues could exceed $100,000. Hence a realistic estimate is $5K‑$150K per year, depending on volume and pricing negotiations.
