Comstock and Yudof Retaining Wall Replacement

The University of Minnesota is seeking a contractor to replace the retaining wall at Comstock and Yudof Halls, located on the east bank of the Twin Cities campus. The project involves remediation of failing dry-stack limestone retaining walls and associated sidewalks. The replacement design utilizes cast-in-place concrete with a cast stone veneer to provide modern structural integrity while maintaining the site's historic aesthetic. The project has several critical constraints, including a no-dig zone, utilities and electrical overhaul, mandatory landcare review, staging and meter coordination, pedestrian access and ADA detours, and a strict construction schedule. The contractor will be required to provide a lump sum bid and complete the work by August 28, 2026. • The project requires the contractor to work with the University's project team to ensure compliance with University standards and procedures. • The contractor will be responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and paying for all required assessments and fees. • The project has a total construction budget of $245,000. • The contractor will be evaluated based on their proposal, which must include information on their team's qualifications, project approach and work plan, project schedule, and project cost. • The contractor must also submit a responsible contractor verification of compliance, which includes a certification that they meet the minimum criteria set forth in Minnesota Statutes, Section 16C.285.
