Description

The City of Santa Cruz is seeking an architect to study the potential for expanding the public restrooms adjacent to 57 Municipal Wharf and to prepare a building permit plan set and project specifications for a demising wall to separate the wharf from the expanded restrooms. The selected architect will provide bid support during the bidding process, construction support during the construction of the demising wall, and post-construction services after the notice of completion. The project consists of several tasks, including studying alternative approaches to expanding the restrooms, preparing a building permit plan set, and providing cost estimates. The architect will also be responsible for reviewing and approving submittals, responding to requests for information, and issuing a certificate of substantial completion. Key considerations for this project include ensuring that the expanded restrooms are ADA compliant, maximizing the number of restrooms and stalls, and minimizing disruptions to the eventual tenant of the commercial space at 57 Municipal Wharf. Some of the key features of the project include: • The architect will study three alternative approaches to expanding the public restrooms and prepare a building permit plan set and project specifications for a demising wall. • The architect will provide bid support during the bidding process and construction support during the construction of the demising wall. • The architect will be responsible for reviewing and approving submittals, responding to requests for information, and issuing a certificate of substantial completion. • The project must be completed within 210 days of the notice to proceed. • The architect must ensure that the expanded restrooms are ADA compliant and maximize the number of restrooms and stalls. • The architect must minimize disruptions to the eventual tenant of the commercial space at 57 Municipal Wharf.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

Based on the scope of work, the budget for this opportunity is estimated to be between $200,000 and $500,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the architect will be responsible for studying alternative approaches to expanding the public restrooms, preparing a building permit plan set, and providing cost estimates. The budget will also depend on the complexity of the project, the number of submittals, and the amount of construction support required. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the experience and qualifications of the architect, the complexity of the project, and the level of construction support required.
