Glenarm Battery Energy Storage System Construction

The City of Pasadena is seeking bids for the construction of a 25 Megawatt utility-scale lithium iron phosphate Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a minimum storage capability of four hours. The project will be located at the Glenarm Power Plant and must adhere to all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and protocols. The selected contractor will be responsible for construction, equipment installation, wiring, termination, and testing of their scope of work to deliver a fully operational BESS facility. • The project requires a California Class A General Engineering Contractor License • The project has a mandatory pre-bid meeting on April 6, 2026, at 9:00am • The deadline for questions is April 30, 2026, at 2:00pm • The submission deadline is May 14, 2026, at 2:00pm • The project duration is 174 working days • The contractor must demonstrate experience with Lithium-Ion Utility Scale Containerized Battery Projects or similar electrical infrastructure projects
