Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is seeking sources capable of developing and validating epigenetic aging models for Northwest Atlantic fish species. The goal is to create an epigenetic clock based on DNA methylation rates in regional fish species. The contractor will analyze tissue samples, identify age-correlated methylation sites, and deliver predictive algorithms. The project will involve several tasks, including project kickoff, DNA extraction, methylation sequencing, bioinformatics, and model development. The contractor will also provide a detailed capability statement, organization information, and past performance descriptions. • The contractor will develop an epigenetic aging model for haddock, Atlantic cod, and black sea bass. • The contractor will validate the model using known-age samples or samples aged using standard NOAA Fisheries otolith methods. • The contractor will deliver predictive algorithms that can be integrated into NOAA Fisheries' routine stock assessment workflows. • The contractor will provide a final report, presentation, and user guide. • The project has a 5-year performance period, including option years.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $5,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate because the document does not provide a specific budget or funding amount. However, based on the scope of work and the 5-year performance period, it is likely that the budget will be in the range of $1 million to $5 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the contractor will need to invest in laboratory equipment, personnel, and other resources to complete the tasks outlined in the document. Additionally, the document mentions that the Government anticipates awarding a single award Firm-Fixed Price type contract, which suggests that the budget will be a fixed amount rather than a cost-plus or time-and-materials contract.
