Description

The United States Navy is seeking information from industry partners to identify sources capable of providing an airborne Direction Finding (DF) system. The system should be able to rapidly and accurately geolocate threat emitters in contested radio frequency environments. The ideal system will be lightweight, consume less power, cover a frequency range of HF to SHF, and provide higher accuracy than currently available systems. Interested parties are requested to provide a response that addresses antenna performance, SWaP-C characteristics, environmental considerations, interfaces, technology and manufacturing readiness level, system integration, supply chain and origin, rough order of magnitude cost, and production and delivery. Some key points to consider include: • The system should be able to operate in a variety of environments and be ruggedized to comply with MIL-STDs. • The system should have an Ethernet port and an RF port for receiving IF frequency data. • The system should be able to interface with software defined radios. • The vendor should provide a non-binding ROM cost for their solution, including price points for the antenna, processor, and any required software. • The vendor should describe their company's production capability, including estimated lead times for initial and full-rate production.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $10,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific budget or funding amount. However, based on the complexity of the project and the requirements for the airborne Direction Finding system, it is likely that the budget will be substantial. The vendor is requested to provide a non-binding ROM cost for their solution, including price points for the antenna, processor, and any required software, at quantities of 10, 50, and 100 units. Considering the development and production of a complex system like this, the budget could be in the range of $100,000 to $10 million. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the level of competition, the complexity of the system, and the production volumes required.
