Description

The Intelligent Generator of Research (IGoR) program aims to eliminate longstanding inefficiencies in research and accelerate the development of effective therapies for complex diseases by creating an AI-enabled interoperable research ecosystem. The program will develop four components: mechanistic disease models, an AI orchestration layer, a layered protocol architecture, and a distributed marketplace of validated laboratories. The program is a 5-year, 3-phase effort, and ARPA-H anticipates awarding to approximately three multidisciplinary teams. • The program will empower researchers to pursue bold, unconventional research directions that are currently too slow, too complex, or too resource-intensive. • The program will create a cycle of hypothesis generation, experimentation, and model refinement that enables researchers to create validated knowledge at least 10x more rapidly than conventional approaches. • The program will develop a distributed marketplace of validated laboratories that execute standardized protocols and return gold-standard data. • The program will be a collaborative effort between academia, non-profit organizations, and commercial entities.

Budget estimate

$10,000,000 – $50,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be substantial, given the scope and complexity of the program. The program aims to develop a comprehensive research ecosystem, which will require significant investment in AI technology, laboratory infrastructure, and personnel. A rough estimate for the budget could be in the range of $10 million to $50 million, considering the program's 5-year duration and the involvement of multiple multidisciplinary teams. However, this is a rough estimate and the actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on the specific requirements and milestones of the program.
