The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking to acquire two BACT/ALERT VIRTUO automated blood culture detection systems for use in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at the Veterans Affairs Caribbean Healthcare System main facility in San Juan, PR. The systems will be used for continuous monitoring and detection of microbial growth in blood and sterile body fluid cultures. The acquisition includes all associated software, hardware, middleware connectivity, uninterrupted power supply (UPS), and printer. The justification for single source awards is due to Isla Lab being the authorized distributor for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, for Biomerieux, the manufacturer of the systems being procured.
