Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting market research to identify potential sources that can provide a Field deployable X-Ray Diffraction System. The system should meet or exceed the technical specifications outlined in the notice, including the ability to measure and compute axial, shear, and transverse stress components in iron and steel materials. The system should also be portable, able to operate using standard single-phase 115V or 120V electrical power, and include a form of enclosure or radiation shielding. The contractor shall provide installation, training, and a one-year manufacturer's warranty. • The system should be capable of measuring and computing axial, shear, and transverse stress components in iron and steel materials. • The system should be able to export raw intensity vs. two-theta (or similar) peak profile data. • The system should be portable indoors and outdoors via protective pack-out boxes or similar. • The system should include means of securing to horizontal and vertical surfaces. • The system should include a form of enclosure or radiation shielding. • The system should include any necessary alignment fixtures / guides for proper system setup and measurement. • The system should include zero-stress and low/high-stress standards for calibration and alignment verification. • The system should include means for emergency stop of x-ray generation. • The system should include a visible hardware indicator showing when the x-ray tube is active or the shutter is open.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate because the document does not provide a specific budget or price range. However, based on the complexity of the X-Ray Diffraction System and the requirements outlined in the notice, it is likely that the budget will be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the system will be a custom-built solution that requires significant development and testing. The actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on the specific requirements and the number of respondents.
